The '5' represents the 5 recognisable attributes of these watches; an automatic movement, a day/date window at the 3 o'clock position, a sunken crown at the 4 o'clock position for comfort, water resistance and a durable case and bracelet.

Though slightly different in their individual appearances, all 27 watches share the distinctive case shape and arrow time markers and hands that make the Seiko 5 Sport so instantly recognisable. These watches are all automatic with a power reserve of up to 41 hours when fully charged and are all water resistant to 100m (330ft).
